That means: the passage is really hard. It comes with a long offshore, challenging winds, and big waves. We can offer the unexperienced sailors to take part only if the rest of the crew is strong enough.
Mid-August brings darkening nights and more unstable weather patterns. The route includes several multi-day ocean passages and requires careful timing for fjord entries.

ROUTE HIGHLIGHTS
Historic waters between Greenland and Iceland, known as “mini-Drake” for their rich marine life and stormy weather patterns.
The world's largest fjord system penetrates 350km into Greenland's coast. Massive icebergs, towering cliffs, and isolated Inuit settlements create an otherworldly landscape.
A solitary volcanic island in the North Atlantic, hosting only a weather station and military installation. The dramatic peak of Beerenberg rises 2,277m directly from the sea.
The final days in Svalbard's waters offer chances to observe glaciers and wildlife before the long passage south. Historic trappers' huts and research stations dot the coastline.

Ocean Passages:
Multiple long stretches of open-ocean sailing in Arctic waters. Watch systems become routine as we navigate through varying conditions, from calm seas to North Atlantic weather systems. The returning darkness requires adjustment to night sailing.
Polar Diversity:
The journey showcases three different faces of the Arctic. From the High Arctic wilderness of Svalbard through volcanic Jan Mayen to the ice-filled fjords of Greenland, each region presents unique environments and challenges.
Weather Systems:
Understanding and adapting to complex Arctic weather patterns becomes essential. We work with various forecast sources and maintain contact with weather stations to plan our passages and timing.
Remote Living:
Extended periods at sea alternating with visits to some of the world's most isolated communities. Life aboard adapts to the rhythm of ocean passages, while stops offer glimpses into different ways of Arctic living.
