Regular work with ice charts and satellite imagery becomes essential for route planning. We learn to identify different types of ice formations and understand their implications for navigation. The constant daylight allows for careful observation and safe passage through ice-prone waters.

Visits to research stations provide direct contact with scientists studying Arctic environments. We learn about ongoing climate research, wildlife monitoring, and the role of Svalbard in global environmental studies.

The northern waters offer prime opportunities for observing Arctic species in their natural habitat. From seals and walruses to polar bears and whales, each day brings possibilities for wildlife encounters, always maintaining responsible viewing distances.
