The challenges here are different from open ocean sailing. But we still have to cover 60 nm per day in average, and we'll be dealing with parts of open water, intricate coastal navigation, potentially strong tidal currents, and changeable weather conditions typical of northern latitudes.
Late May to early June typically offers a lot of sunshine, but conditions can change rapidly and we may encounter some fogs. As we sail northward, we'll experience increasing daylight hours, culminating in the midnight sun as we approach Bodø.

ROUTE
HIGHLIGHTS
Navigating the Bergen fjords:
We begin our journey by sailing through the intricate fjord system around Bergen, experiencing the dramatic cliffs and waterfalls that make this region famous.

Exploring the Coastal Islands:
As we head north, we'll navigate through a maze of islands and skerries that guard the Norwegian coast. This area offers countless natural harbors and picturesque fishing villages to explore.
Crossing the Stadthavet:
This open stretch of water is known for its challenging conditions and marks a significant point in our northward journey. It's often considered a mini-ocean crossing due to its exposed nature and frequent Northerly winds

Sailing past the Lofoten Islands:
While this route likely won't take us directly through the Lofoten archipelago, we may catch glimpses of these dramatic islands as we sail further north.

Crossing the Arctic Circle:
A significant milestone in our journey, crossing the Arctic Circle marks our entry into the land of the midnight sun during this time of year.
