A lot of sailing, challenging sea conditions, and full hedonism after entering the harbours.
This stage is combining the 2−3 days of offshore passage with beautiful coastal towns of Northern Spain and France. It’s a region with daily tidal range up to 10 meters high, that’s why it’s one of the most exciting sailing areas in the world. We’ll be able to reach some ports with locks, so you can walk around by foot on a low water where you’ve just sailed several hours before. And for sure, we don’t forget the French cuisine.

STAGE 5.1

1190 €
Start/Finish Cities and Airports:
🇪🇸 A Coruña: A Coruña [LCG], Santiago de Compostela [SCQ]
🇫🇷 Cherbourg: Paris [ORY], [CDG] + train 3h
Tips ON getting
To the boat
from the boat
To reach A Coruña from elsewhere, use the nearest airport A Coruña [LCG]. Another option is to arrive to Santiago de Compostela airport [SCQ], which hosts much more flights. The train gets you from Santiago to A Coruña in 40 minutes and runs every hour during the day.
Cherbourg is 3 hours by train from Paris (Saint-Lazare). The train runs every 1−2 hours. Then each of the three Paris airports should work good for you.
Brittany's Coastal Delights:
Channel Islands Adventure:
Cherbourg Finale:
We mark the difficulty of this stage as 4 out of 5.
Our voyage takes us through charming Roscoff and Perros Guirec, where we’ll marvel at the intricate dance of tides and time. The Île de Bréhat offers a serene escape, showcasing the region’s vibrant flora and fauna.
The Channel Islands reveal a unique blend of cultures, histories, and natural beauty. Guernsey, in particular, offers a rich tapestry of coastal cliffs, historic fortifications, and welcoming harbors.
Our journey culminates in Cherbourg, a city that combines maritime traditions with cultural sophistication. From the old town’s cobbled streets to the modern marina, Cherbourg invites us to reflect on our journey and the bonds formed along the way.
That means you should be prepared for the challenging conditions. It comes with the possibilities of a strong wind, big waves, low temperature, and offshore passages for a couple of days.
The end of May in Biscay Bay can be quite stormy and rainy, with the wind from the bow quarters. The crossing may take up to three days. It can also be wavy and windy during the shorter passages. And also there is high probability to encounter fog. That’s why it might be difficult. But still on these passages there are plenty of safe harbours, long daylight, and not too cold. So it’s definitely not extremely hard.
A Coruña to Viveiro:
Viveiro to Brest:
We set sail from the historic A Coruña, exploring the Costa da Morte, a region famed for its rugged beauty and lighthouses guiding sailors through perilous waters. Our journey to Viveiro introduces us to Galicia’s enchanting landscapes and maritime heritage.
As we cross the formidable Bay of Biscay, we’re challenged and thrilled by the open sea’s vastness. Arriving in Brest, we’re greeted by Brittany’s majestic coast, where nature’s raw power carves breathtaking scenery.
